🌋 What is Ammonium Sulphate?
Ammonium Sulphate is a white crystalline salt, primarily used as a nitrogen-based fertilizer, but it also finds roles in industrial, pharmaceutical, and food processing sectors.
It contains 21% nitrogen and 24% sulfur, making it an excellent source of essential plant nutrients.

🔹 1. By-Product from Industries
Caprolactam production (used in nylon manufacturing)
Coke oven gas cleaning in steel plants
Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) in power plants
India sources large quantities from petrochemical and steel industries in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.
🔹 2. Synthetic Manufacturing
Reacting ammonia gas (NH₃) with sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄):
2NH₃ + H₂SO₄ → (NH₄)₂SO₄
Also produced using gypsum and ammonium carbonate or ammonium hydroxide.
